SJV Athletics Annual Fundraiser
Rock River Thresheree 2022
Friday, September 2 through Monday, September 5
For over 50 years, St. John Vianney has operated a food stand at the Rock River Thresheree. This is Athletics’ largest fundraiser. This fundraiser provides 85% of the year’s budget.
Students who are in the 4th grade and higher along with their parents are encouraged to help with this fundraiser. We need people to help set up, work in the food stand, and clean up after the event. This is a great opportunity for students to get service hours.
All SJV families are encouraged to volunteer. If you are not available to work over Labor Day weekend, we can still use your help. We will be moving items out to the Thresheree and cleaning the food stand after the 10:00 AM mass on Sunday, August 28.
The Thresheree is one of the biggest fundraisers not just for athletics or for the school, but for the parish as a whole, and the benefits go beyond athletics. As an example, the new gym floor is a recent, major project that money from Thresheree supported. This beautiful floor is used by all school students for gym class and assemblies, as well as by the parish for events like the Fall Festival. Therefore, a profitable fundraiser is important to everyone in the school and parish. We have included a conservative figure of $9,000 in our budget as our profit from this weekend.
Volunteer help is essential to make this event a success, even if your child is not involved in athletics. Help support this project by volunteering for a few hours at the Concession stand at the Thresheree!
We have decided to limit the indoor/kitchen workers to 6th grade and up to improve safety and efficiency. Younger workers will be asked to help with jobs outdoors. During the mid-day shifts (11:00 - 2:30), the kitchen will be limited to the 7 kitchen helpers, 2 grillers, 1 cashier, and athletic board supervisor(s) listed on the signup to prevent overcrowding.
